Happy Holidays! FYI: DJI Mavic Air 2s firmware/software update available today 12/18/2022.
Do you know which version that is? I’d love to get some info before I go on a big shoot tomorrow with the 2S and won’t get to fire it up until tonight to get all the necessary checks done. Thanks @MavRik
Thanks Dan - I should have provided that info in the original post. Aircraft Firmware, v02.04.2500 RC Firmware, v04.12.0100 App: v1.9.0
Great info. Thank you. I’ll be interested in seeing what the updates are. I’m a little cautious on updating anything prior to a massive job, based on my last experience, hahah.
I saw today that when the Air 2S was connected to our DJI RC there was no prompt for the latest firmware update. Once I disconnected (unpaired) the Air 2S from the DJI RC and paired it with the OG RC-N1 I was prompted to update. I declined to do so, as I have a big job 2.5 hours from the home office tomorrow and don’t want any issues this go round.
Great idea Dan, just in case…I noticed the couple of flights I took after the firmware/software update seemed a bit more smoother. Hard to explain but the drone seemed to respond a bit more quicker. I launch typically from the ground using manual mode rather than the take-off button and once hovering rose to 185 feet in no time. The flight was FPV for both flights and just seemed smoother. Let me know if you upgrade after your shoot and how your drone did after the upgrade.
Thanks for that info. I’ll be checking regularly after the shoot (postponed until tomorrow) to see if 1) the update comes down the pipe for the A2S when paired with the DJI RC and 2) if so, what’s been positively impacted.
So, had like 4 shoots since this post of yours and never received a firmware update for the Air 2S while connected to the DJI RC. The Mini 3 Pro did show a firmware update while I was just getting personal shots.
I didn’t update, and the weirdest thing happened. At the same time, in the middle of my last shoot for the day the Air 2S threw the 30064 error (cannot take off) yet again. I had to repair it to the RC-N1, unpair it, then re-pair it to the DJI RC. I have no idea what that is about, but it defeats the purpose of trying to only use the DJI RC. If I have to carry around the RC-N1, I might as well use that if the errors persist.
I’ll be playing around with all updates and whatnot this weekend to see what’s what…
Hey Dan, wow that is interesting. I should have mentioned that the firmware update comes from checking for updates while connected to the RC-N1. After that update, the RC will load the Mavic Air 2s as an option to update (I believe with the Mavic 3) as well. Then you are good to go with all updates. The error received must be a bug of some kind. I did not rrun into that issue. Perhaps if that issue continues, DJI will fix the bug in the near future. There must be others who have experienced this issue. Sorry to hear about that Dan!
Since I don’t appear ti have any drone related shoots in the upcoming week, I think I am going to re-pair the Air 2S to the RC-N1 and update everything that needs it (batts and RC) and then link to the DJI RC. I was watching a Ken Heron video where he was irritated that his Avata was getting cannot take off errors and this was related to the new firmware that added Remote ID. His workaround was to connect his cell phone to the goggles while flying.
This got me thinking some. PERHAPS the 30064 error I received was from this same issue, as I have not updated the Air 2S since November. Now that I think of it, I re-paired the A2S to the DJI RC WHILE I had my cell phone in my back pocket. My cell is connected to the DJI RC via hotspot. When I received the error, I moved to another location on the street to take images at their lake, without my cellphone (it was back at the property).
Interesting.
Ah…ok, then perhaps those were the reason(s) for the accompanying error message. We live and learn with these drones Dan! They’re not perfect, but when they do work, there’s so much you can do! Thanks for letting us know. We learn from each other indeed!
